Rachel Johnson single ‘Safe Island’ hits the right mix

It’s a rare artist that can bring together the light songwriting touch of Laura Marling with the powerhouse sound of Florence and the Machine, but with new single ‘Safe Island’ Rachel Johnson has bridged that gap.

Starting slowly, the song hypnotises with its reverb laden vocal, before gradually building to a solid climax which is a completely different animal. It’s a real eye opener as to what can be done when a songwriter doesn’t simply stick to the verse-chorus looping structure. It’s creative, fun, and most importantly, catchy. Find it on iTunes.
