An album for those with an open mind, ‘Spiritual Haven’ is the new album from composer Russell Suereth. It’s also perhaps the most fitting title for an album in recent memory, hitting the genre nail right on the head.
Softly produced and with real charm, its tracks like that above soothe and relax the listener without being too obtrusive. Those fearful of being preached at in terms of ‘spirituality’ can come to this in the full knowledge that the lack of words and lyrics allow the music instead to simply move over you.
How you interpret it is up to you, an no doubt some will find deeper meaning than others. But the same can be said of any genre, and this is a fine example of how ambient music can be done well.
