Debut single ‘I Was Hoping I’d Run Into You’ – Chris Hornsby

Male singer-songwriters are a common breed these days, and the difficulty they have is finding something to help them stand out from the crowd. In the case of Chris Hornsby, he does just that – although thanks to the subtle nature of this song (his debut single) it’s hard to put a finger on why.

Layered strummed acoustic chords are the building blocks for this particular tune, a straightforward guitar-pop effort with a comfortingly warm voice that never reaches further than it needs to. The rhythms, relatively pacy and syncopated, make for a dynamic backing to the smooth vocal, a contrast that works really well.

I look forward to hearing more from Chris Hornsby in the future.
